Parasitic spiders that feed on your fear, Dream Weaver spiders are creatures of nightmare. They do not exist in the physical plain like most living things and are imperceptible to all but the most sensitive creatures.
Dream Weaver spiders spin threads of pure psychic energy to entrap their unwary victims. They can’t be touched and are only visible to those sensitive to such things, but they do have a noticeable cooling effect on the air around them. Creatures walking through these webs will feel their eyes begin to droop as a sense of lethargy and exhaustion wraps itself around their body. Once asleep the victim is finally able to perceive the web trapping them in place and the spider behind it, descending slowly to feed on their fear.
Dream Weaver spiders reproduce by visiting dreamers that have fallen asleep naturally. The victim’s dream will turn temporarily nightmarish, as the spider lays its eggs and then leaves the new host. The eggs incubate within the mind of the victim usually in the form of recurring nightmares over successive nights. Once the eggs hatch, the spiderlings will devour their host from within.
