Tabletop Enthusiast – A WFRP 4e Career

Contents

You know when you haven’t written anything for a while and you’re just waiting for that little spark to set you on the right path again?

Well that was me and today I had that little spark give me a nudge as I felt compelled to write. It is a homage to all of the hardworking role players and war gamers out there, who spend so much time making sure others are having fun.

If you’re not familiar with WFRP itself, I hope you can still enjoy the tongue in cheek way the career is intended. Anyway, without further ado…

TABLETOP ENTHUSIAST

Dwarf, Gnome, Halfling, High Elf, Human, Ogre, Wood Elf

You have embraced the newest craze to hit the clubs and backrooms of the Old World, taking dice games to new levels.

Tabletop Enthusiasts like to play games. Not just any old games, oh no. They play with carefully crafted miniatures, roll dice with varying numbers of sides, read volumes of incomprehensible rules and seemingly take on entirely different personalities whilst playing. Tabletop Enthusiasts take their hobby seriously and often meet in secluded spots, with refreshments on hand to carry them through a particularly long session.

Tabletop Enthusiasts travel far and wide to find others willing to play their games, particularly if there are no other players nearby. The weekly gaming session may draw individuals from miles around, each one carrying a heavily laden backpack containing an assortment of books, dice, scraps of paper and writing tools and of course miniatures.

Occasionally a large event is staged, known to those in the know as a ‘Convention’. This is a remarkable event where hundreds and possibly thousands of Tabletop Enthusiasts converge in one place. If a large enough hall cannot be found, then tents are erected where many tabletop games are played, enthusiasts share tips and regale stories of daring do.

Tabletop Enthusiast is an Academic Career and may replace any Academic Career at character creation.
